Distillery: Sourced from Undisclosed Distillery in TN

Proof: 114.6

Age: 6 Years

Mashbill: Undisclosed

BACKGROUND: King's Family Distillery is a craft whiskey distillery nestled in the foothills of the Great Smokey Mountain in Tennessee. They were founded in 2018 by power couple Justin and Cara king who had a dream to create a top-o-the-line spirits brand. Justin and Cara had more than a decade of experience across a vast array of the whiskey industry. Justin started in the whiskey business in less than legal ways but was recruited by the first legal moonshine distillery in Tennessee as the Master Distiller and developed products such as Moonshine Cherries, Apple Pie Moonshine, White Lightnin’, Blue Flame, and many more. Cara started her career in the whiskey industry in 2008 when she joined her family’s grain firm, the foremost supplier of rye in the US. King's Family Distillery produces multiple different whiskies that we will eventually review but this is a limited release, cask strength bourbon distilled in Tennessee and aged at least 6 years and is a from a single barrel.

NOSE: Rich and smooth scents of warm caramel, clove, orange zest, ripe cherry, and oak wafted up from the glass. The proof hides in the shadows but provides some rawness and sting. Overall, this is a sweet, smooth, and bold nose that is relatively straightforward but very rich. (22/25)

PALATE: This whiskey has a ton of bold and rich flavors pooping out at you from first sip. Notes of cinnamon, black pepper, tons of rye spice, roasted pecans and brown sugar blend together with a rawness and bite from the proof. What starts as a sweeter whiskey quickly develops into a spice bomb! The whiskey has a full mouthfeel and a rawness to it that reminds that this came straight out of a barrel. (35/40)

FINISH: The finish is long and warm with tons of oak, leather, white pepper, and a load of rye spice. The proof also is felt all the way down! (22/25)

VALUE: King's Family Tennessee Bourbon has a $75 SRP which is slightly high but not bad for the age, proof, and character of the whiskey. (7/10)

Overall: 86/100

FINAL THOUGHTS: King's Family Distillery Tennessee Bourbon is a delicious bourbon whiskey with tons of character and flavor. It has the boldness of a cask strength whiskey without being over the top. We recommend this whiskey to anyone who enjoys higher proof whiskey!
