There are many Traditions that come along in December, for some it is hanging lights, lighting candles, singing carols, or spending time with family. At Stranahan’s, December is known for all of that, and a little more. In years before, the distillery took one day out of the year, in December, and released their annual Snowflake batch. Due to obvious reasons, the distillery has decided, for the first time, to hold on the release of the Snowflake batch, and release it in February.

Although the release was postponed, Stranahan’ Distillery still came together and had a special release. The distillery hosted its first ever virtual “Vault Auction,” which was an online auction that raffled off 5 bottles from each of the last 5 year’s Snowflake releases. On top of helping whiskey drinkers score a few unicorn bottles, the distillery also donated all of their proceeds to the Colorado State Firefighters Foundation. What a way to keep a tradition alive.

Head Distiller, Owen Martin seemed to be pleased to let this year's release age for a little longer, claiming he wanted this year’s flavor profile to be bright and sweet—to be a counterpoint to the sour year we’ve had. One of the strongest expressions will come from apple-brandy-finished casks.
