Updated: Feb 21, 2021

Distillery: Milam & Greene & Sourced from TN

Proof: 94

Age: Blend of 2 Yr Old TX, 3 Yr Old TN, 3 Yr Old KY, and 11 Yr Old TN Bourbon

Mashbill: Undisclosed

BACKGROUND: Milam & Greene is a distillery in Blanco, TX. They originally lanched as Ben Milam Whiskey but in 2019 Heather Greene, a world-renowned whiskey expert, joined the company as CEO and master blender and they changed their name to Milam & Greene. Ben Milam was a Freedom Fighter in the Texas Revolution, his descendent, Marsha Milam, a whiskey fanatic and successful Austin-based entrepreneur launched the brand. They started by sourcing their whiskey and hiring experts to help them blend incredible whiskeys. Milam & Greene is a woman ran distillery having women in all three key positions, founder, master blender/CEO, and master distiller. Marlene Holmes is the master distiller and she started her career in 1990 with Jim Beam where she learned the whiskey craft. They have 3 flagship whiskeys: an MGP sourced Port Finished Rye, a Single Barrel Straight Bourbon, and this Triple Cask. They also have some distillery reserve, grain-to-glass whiskeys and private barrels that can get as old as 12 years old.

NOSE: The nose is balanced and delicate with notes of caramel drizzled crisp green apple, sweet vanilla, and some rye spice. The nose has a nice floralness to it and absolutely no burn. (22/25)

PALATE: This whiskey is very simple and delicate while maintaining it's flavor-fullness. On the palate there is smooth baking spice, toasted oak, delicate sweet vanilla and light brown sugar. It is quite soft and light but still enjoyable, especially if you let it sit on your palate. (33/40)

FINISH: The finish is medium in length and on the lighter side which is to be expected for the proof. The finish is full of smooth baking spice, charred oak, tannins, and some leather. It also has a creamy/chewiness to it that was not expected. (22/25)

VALUE: Milam & Green Triple Cask has a $45 SRP which is just right. It drinks better than most $30 whiskeys and can hold it's own with some $60-70 whiskeys. (8/10)

Overall: 85/100

FINAL THOUGHTS: Milam & Green Triple Cask is an extremely enjoyable bourbon whiskey that balances delicateness with sweet and smooth flavors. This is a great whiskey for anyone who enjoys smooth, sweet, and delicate whiskey. Milam & Greene is a fantastic women-ran distillery with excellent people, whiskey, and history.
